Purpose : The aim of this study is to assess the feasibility of laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of hepatic cysts.
Methods : A retrospective study was done with 8 patients who underwent surgical therapy for hepatic cysts. 6 patients underwent laparoscopic surgery and 2 patients underwent open surgery in Inha University Hospital from June 1996 to August 2001.
Results : All laparoscopic operations were finished without conversion. There was no postoperative mortality and there were two postoperative complications in patients with laparoscopic surgery, but no one was significant.
Conclusion : Laparoscopic surgery is safe and effective for the treatment of hepatic cysts and may be recommended with adequate selection of patients and type of cystic liver disease.
